Bianconeri in National Teams | The Cavalluccio Squad Report

All the Bianconeri players who represented their respective national teams over the past week have returned to the club.

Tommaso Berti did not take the field in the two matches played and won by Italy’s Under-21 team against North Macedonia and Sweden, while Peter Amoran, playing for the Swedish national team, featured in both of the Scandinavians’ matches. In the match against Montenegro, played on Friday, March 27, the Cavalluccio defender came on late in the game and scored the goal that sealed the 2-2 draw, allowing the Sweden Under-21 team to avoid defeat; in the match against the Azzurrini, however, Amoran started in the starting lineup and remained on the field at the heart of the defense until the final whistle.

As for the three players called up from the Youth Sector, the experience in the Azzurri jersey for the young Bianconeri competing in the European Qualifiers with the Italy Under-19 and Italy Under-18 teams concluded on an extremely positive note.

The Under-19 National Team, placed in Group 6 of the Elite Round, secured a spot in the final phase of the European Championship in their age group thanks to two wins and a draw. In the opening match, played on Wednesday, March 25 against Hungary and won 3-0, Filippo Galvagno came on in the final minutes of the second half, contributing to the Azzurrini’s success. In the second match, played on Saturday, March 28 against Slovakia, the Bianconeri forward entered the game in the 65th minute, which Italy went on to win 3-0. In the final and decisive match, which ended 1-1 against Turkey and took place on Tuesday, March 31, Filippo Galvagno did not play, but the draw still allowed Alberto Bollini’s team to finish the group stage in first place and secure a spot in the final phase of the competition, scheduled to take place in Wales from June 28 to July 11.

Excellent results also for Italy’s Under-18 team, competing in Scotland in the first qualifying round, with the Azzurrini finishing the group in first place, thus securing their place in League A. In the 3-0 win against Scotland, David Marini came on as a substitute in the 61st minute, while Mattia Ridolfi did not play; The situation was different, however, in the 2-2 draw against Poland, in which Marini started and Ridolfi came on in his place in the final minutes. The rotation between the two Bianconeri players was repeated in the decisive victory over Ireland, with Ridolfi coming on in the 60th minute to replace Marini, in a match that secured Italy’s top spot in the group.
