Primavera | The Cavalluccio triumphs in Turin and climbs to second place

A strong showing by Cesena FC Primavera, who defeated their peers from Torino FC Primavera 1-2 thanks to goals from Zamagni and Tosku in the match valid for Matchday 32 of the Primavera 1 Championship, temporarily moving them into second place in the standings, level on points with league leaders Parma Calcio Primavera.

The home side got off to a strong start, controlling possession and creating danger as early as the 5th minute through Bonacina, who did well to collect a rebound but saw his shot go just wide. In the 14th minute, however, it was Cesena who created a great chance: Tosku worked the ball well and found Domeniconi, who, having entered the box, took a shot that was deflected, making it easier for Santer to make the save. The Granata responded in the 23rd minute, hitting the post through Perciun, with Gabellini failing to convert the rebound, while shortly after, it was Bonacina again who tested Fontana.

The match remained open and hard-fought, and in the 30th minute, Mattioli nearly gave his team the lead with a shot from the edge of the box that went just wide, but it was only a prelude to the goal: in the 31st minute, Zamagni shook off his marker and beat Santer to put the Bianconeri ahead. Torino tried to respond before halftime through Ballanti and Sandrucci, but Fontana and the Bianconeri defense held firm and thwarted the Granata’s attempts.

In the second half, Torino increased the pressure: Zaia grazed the crossbar, and Kugyela fired high from distance. The Cavalluccio, however, struck again in the 59th minute, when Mattioli launched Tosku, who, aided by a deflection off the rushing goalkeeper, slotted the ball into the net to double the lead. In the closing minutes, Torino pulled one back following a corner kick with Gabellini after a save by Fontana, but the Bianconeri held firm against the final onslaught and secured three crucial points.

Coach Nicola Campedelli’s Bianconeri will host the Nerazzurri of FC Internazionale Primavera in Martorano on Saturday, April 11, at 11:00 a.m. in a match valid for Matchday 33 of the Primavera 1 Championship.
