THE PRESENTATION OF THE NEW SPORTING DIRECTOR FILIPPO FUSCO

On Friday, June 13, at the press room of the Orogel Stadium - Dino Manuzzi, a press conference was held to introduce Filippo Fusco, the new technical director of Cesena FC, accompanied by Corrado Di Taranto, general manager of the Club, and Massimo Agostini, member of the board of directors of the Company.

Before starting the press conference with the sporting director,” began the Bianconeri general manager, Corrado Di Taranto, "I would like to thank Fabio Artico for his two years with the Bianconeri and for the great results he has achieved. Today, I am here to introduce Filippo Fusco, who really needs no introduction, as his professionalism and history speak for themselves. Personally, I am very happy that he has accepted the offer and agreed to come to Cesena to work with me again. It was a decision taken together with the owners, which took some time, but we are sure it is the best choice for Cesena.“

I would like to thank everyone here and also thank the director Di Taranto for his kind words," said the new Cavalluccio executive, Filippo Fusco - but my thanks go to the entire club ownership, who have decided to count on me in an important year because, as the general manager rightly pointed out, Cesena has achieved significant sporting results in the last two years, and this must be a source of great pride for all of us who work for this club."

It's clear that I spoke with the coach,” continued the Bianconeri technical director, "but I only did so once my appointment was official, because I felt it was the right thing to do towards the previous sporting director, the club, and the coach himself. We exchanged opinions, and it's clear that I follow Serie B as I do many other leagues. The coach has proven to be an essential asset for this category, and continuity from a technical perspective can be a valuable addition. Generally, I prefer to make these kinds of assessments in person with the coach, looking him in the eye. So, in the coming days, we will get together to discuss the various points concretely. What is clear is that the club sets the guidelines, and therefore, the directives come from the owners and the general manager. The sporting director must be able to implement these points and translate them into technical terms. This is the fundamental role of the sporting director in football today: to support the coach's work, understand the club's culture, and understand what the concrete objectives can be in a football system that, as we can see, is in deep economic crisis.

Teams are built in accordance with the objectives that have been set. It is essential,“ said Filippo Fusco, ”to understand that Cesena is not a club that needs to sell, let alone sell off players, and the goal is to give continuity to a project. Cesena has an essential tradition in youth development, deep roots in the local area, and a strong identification between Romagna and the team that represents it, and this is an added value. A sporting director must be able to read these points, understand the culture of the club where he works, and try to translate them into the construction of a valuable team. The goal is to integrate the various departments so that the team is competitive and balanced. The key word for me is balance: financial balance, technical balance, and tactical balance. However, this is the coach's job, and balance in roles is the most important thing for me. Frankly, what worries me least is the team: the important thing is that the players who come here are motivated and that Cesena is their first choice, that we have the desire and determination to give everything for the club that takes them on and that they are also grateful to the club for the trust placed in them. During the season, there will be ups and downs, but for me, motivation, commitment, and ambition are fundamental, and this ambition must not be personal, because personal ambition must be transformed into team and group ambition. This is fundamental.
